Ringing in the New School Year
Today is the first day of school at Good Shepherd. Earlier this morning, our fifth grade class rang in the new school year by ringing our school bell.
The 300-pound school bell was cast in 1856 by the Meneely Bell Company, the same firm that created the Liberty Bell hanging in Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The bell was given to the school by Joseph Behl, whose son Greg Behl was the school’s project manager during construction. Its reverberating chime can be heard every morning to signify the start of the school day.
Welcome to all of our Good Shepherd families! From everyone at Good Shepherd, we are so excited for another school year filled with love, learning and fun!
